But I then noticed something, the CM icon was popping up in the menu bar. Took it home that day and tried to play but again, it just wouldn't work. Then, a few days later, I was killing time at work at lunch and figured I'd have another go. Knowing I was following the instructions correctly, I tried again on the M1 Macbook but it didn't work. Getting frustrated, I attempted to do it on my wife's Macbook (not M1). I thought that might help the CM Starter Kit work but to no avail. I had another small issue with the M1 Macbook so had to wipe it and re-start. I couldn't get it to work on my M1 Macbook despite following the detailed guide by Harold Finch. Have spent the last couple of weeks trying to figure out why the CM Starter Kit would not work on my MacBook despite following the instructions, I eventually found a weird issue that seems to only impact the latest Macbooks (with M1) when using multiple screens. I hope no one needs to use what I found because it works for them with no problems. Apologies, in advance, for this long post but perhaps someone will find it helpful.
